The Weekend Quarantine in Ukraine - what is forbidden until the end of 2020

According to Ukrainian Pravda sources at the Ministry of Health, the weekend lockdown is planned to continue until the end of the year and possibly after the New Year. It will depend on the epidemiological situation.

What is forbidden throughout Ukraine:

  • throughout Ukraine, it is forbidden to hold mass, cultural, including concert, sports, social, religious, advertising, and other events with the participation of more than 20 people, except for official sports events (held without spectators);

  • the activity of cinemas and theaters with an occupancy rate of more than 50% is prohibited;

  • The museums' activity that can provide stay in premises no more than 1 person per each 20 sq.m. is forbidden. m;

  • the number of people in public transport should not exceed the number of seats; it is, in particular, about regular and irregular transportation of passengers on city bus routes, in the mode of a route taxi, in electric, railway transport, in city, suburban, intercity, intraregional and interregional public transport;

  • it is forbidden to hold discos, work of entertainment establishments (night clubs), organization of leisure in public catering establishments (restaurants, cafes, bars, snack bars, canteens, buffets, etc.);

  • it is forbidden to work from 22:00 to 7:00 in catering establishments (restaurants, cafes, bars, snack bars, canteens, buffets, etc.), except for the sale of takeaway food and address delivery;

  • in catering establishments, the distance between tables should not be less than 2 meters, and on one table stay of up to 4 persons without children is allowed;

  • the activity of establishments in which markings for keeping a distance of 1.5 m in queues are not applied, employees do not wear masks is prohibited;

  • the activity of institutions that provide accommodation services, except for hotels, rehabilitation institutions, sanatoriums, inpatient prosthetics departments is prohibited;

  • it is forbidden to visit educational institutions by groups of more than 20 people, except for preschool, general secondary, out-of-school, specialized art education institutions;

  • it is forbidden to visit preschool, general secondary, out-of-school, sports, and specialized art education institutions if more than 50% of students and educators are there in self-isolation;

  • hospitals are prohibited from conducting scheduled hospitalizations, except in emergencies and other cases where the delay is life-threatening;

  • the activity of gyms where do not provide a density of visitors at the rate of 1 person on 20 sq.m. is forbidden.



What is forbidden during the weekend quarantine from midnight Saturday to midnight Monday:

During these two days, the following restrictions are added to the previous restrictions:

  • bars, restaurants, cafes, and other catering establishments are closed, only takeaway trade is possible;

  • shopping and entertainment centers and other entertainment establishments are being closed;

  • establishments of trade and consumer services, except for establishments of trade in foodstuffs (if at least 60% of the trade area is set aside for the sale of food), fuel, medicines, and medical products, veterinary drugs are closed;

  • establishments that provide financial and collection services, postal services, medical and veterinary practices, gas stations (except for food areas), service stations will continue their activities;

  • cultural institutions are closed, except for institutions for the production of audio-visual works with restricted access to the place of shooting;

  • gyms and swimming pools are closed;

  • It is also proposed to introduce recommendations for allocating a separate time of priority service from 10:00 to 12:00 for the elderly and people with disabilities in local governments at enterprises, organizations, and institutions in the field of service.

Details: Everyone voted for the resolution, except for the Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko, who abstained.


Quarantine Information

  • Foreign citizens from "red" countries must enter 14-days self-isolation if not carrying a negative PCR test at arrival. Upon arrival at Ukrainian international airports. Test results are emailed within 24 hours, and passengers should follow the self-quarantine protocol until the results are reported to the Public Health Center and consequently sent to the App "Act at Home."






The Ministry of Health advises that the PCR document showing the results should:

  • Be in English (translation into Ukrainian is preferable, if possible - not obligatory)

  • State the sample collection time and the time when results were received

  • Specifically, mention the test type – PCR – polymerase chain reaction.

  • Show the full name, date of birth, and passport number of the traveler.

  • Include the name, address, and contact details of the lab performing the test

  • Clearly state the result – COVID-19 NO or COVID-19 YES.
